Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), including the Graston Technique, is a specialized manual therapy technique that uses a stainless steel instrument to detect and treat soft tissue restrictions. This techniques helps to improve the function and mobility of soft tissues throughout the body.

By targeting muscles, tendons, and ligaments, IASTM breaks down scar tissue, adhesions, and fascial restrictions. This therapy is particularly helpful for conditions such as tendonitis, muscle strains, scar tissue formation and for reducing pain.

What IASTM can be used for:

  • Chronic muscle tightness and trigger points

  • Tendonitis and tendinopathies (e.g., Achilles, patellar, tennis elbow)

  • Fascial restrictions and adhesions

  • Scar tissue from injuries or surgeries

  • Plantar Fasciitis

  • Ligament sprains and strains

  • Myofascial pain syndrome

  • Joint stiffness and decreased range of motion

  • Postural imbalances caused by soft tissue restrictions

  • Rehabilitation after soft tissue injuries

At Mojo Physical Therapy, our physical therapists use IASTM as part of a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. This helps you accelerate recovery and return to what you love, pain free!
